"I have had this guide for just over a week now, and just about finished reading it. The content is very good and the pages are laid out very well which allows me to pick out vital bits of information, very easily.

This book has a good quality plastic cover, that supports the pages well. The pages are 'wiro' bound which, alongside the 'half canadian' plastic cover, allows the book to be opened flat and pages to be read easily.
The orientation of this book is in landscape which, at first may seem strange, but when you flick through the book, you will see how much of the content suits it. All of the pages are top quality, made from heavy gloss paper that feel very strong. This is essential as the book is ring bound, to prevent any pages coming loose.
I was particularly impressed by some of the figures, contained within this book. It has been so hard to find any modern information, for calf rearing, as most books on the subject were published decades ago.
Figure tables covering growth rates, feed requirements, housing requirements are laid out really well and focus on the important information. This book also highlights most of the important anatomy of the calf to help understand how the body works. This will be very valuable in understanding any health issues that may arise for someone with little experience.
This book is very useful for anyone who needs a bit of guidance in the calf rearing pens. It also provides average growth weights etc that can be compared with your own results, to see how you are preforming.
This book is also very appealing to anyone looking to start rearing their own calves on smallholdings or equally anyone who has an interest in livestock.
I love this book and it will forever stay in the farm office as a great reference book. Highly Recommended!"

Just the book we have been waiting a long time for.  Simple and not too technical.  Ideal to understand feeding and rearing calves in a good way. 2009

I've been looking for a good calf book for years and all I could find were the usual text books.  When I saw this in Dairy Farmer I couldn't beleive my luck so I ordered a copy.  It arrived within a couple of days and I was very pleased with it.

It has a plastic cover which means it should be easy to keep clean, has a wire binding which means the spine won't break but most of all I have never seen this information presented so clearly.

I don't have time to read a lot (I should...) so this book is ideal.  It seems well sign posted, lots of pictures and useful check lists.

I'ved used The Feeds Directory from Context for a while and loved it.  This book is a welcome addition to the office desk.  How about one on how to Feed Cows.

Jim Reid, Scotland.
