About this book

Vitamin nutrition is a small part (in number) of the complete nutrition of an animal. It can often be ignored and yet it is critical to the well-being and top performance of every animal. The correct vitamin balance of animals is essential for maintaining normal body function to support growth, performance, immunity and fertility requirements. An increased supply of specific vitamins can sometimes have a positive effect, such as immunity status or hoof quality.

This directory provides a functional, easy to read review of vitamins in animal nutrition. It is presented in a simple, colour-coded format with comprehensive and clear information designed to help save time searching for information. The acclaimed Context Directory style covers all the vitamins and some newer vitamin-like substances in an A-Z listing and is now available with a robust polypropylene cover.

Each vitamin is reviewed by species, natural sources, function and benefits, absorption, metabolism, storage, excretion, adequate status, deficency, toxicity, antagonists etc. Feed additive infomation is provided with regard to physical form, storage, processing losses and EU legal requirements for inclusion into livestock feeds.

A table of levels of each vitamin in common feedstuffs and useful summary tables completes this valuable reference guide to help improve your feed decisions.

Ideal reference guide for advisors, nutritionists, salespersons, farmers and students
